Born and raised in southwestern Ontario, Canada, I have been writing stories, poems and songs my whole life. My first attempt at getting published occurred when I was eight years old, after learning my sister’s boyfriend “knew someone in publishing.” I had written a Choose Your Own Adventure book called The Lost City of Montelow and tried–unsuccessfully–to sell it to him. I still have those pages.
My day job is in tech, but my mind is merciless in generating story ideas that have plagued me for too long. It’s time to let them out.
I completed my first fantasy novel The Watched Man several years ago, and began seeking representation. I had some extremely encouraging agent interaction, but then put my plans on hold following the passing of my Dad (to cancer) that year. It’s time to dust off those plans and move forward.
My current goal is to have my second novel, a YA urban fantasy, completed before querying again, and to publish some short stories.
The rest of my time is spent with my wife and kids, and split among way too many hobbies and interests–bushcraft, exercise, fishing, forging, bass playing, star gazing, wood and stone carving, volunteering, electronics, to name just a few. My insatiable curiosity and unslakable thirst for knowledge are the fuel for my stories. “What if?” is my favorite question.
